Video Wall for Restaurants

Published :
Quality food and service is the recipe for a restaurant’s success.
But what about the customers experience inside the restaurant?

A shift is taking place with a new generation of guests who expect a digital experience to go with the 5-star meal and service. One simple yet powerful technology is LED video walls. Combine this technology with elite customer service, and you can become one of the leading restaurants in your area.

Video wall is something to consider for creating a unique identity and maintaining the brand voice via customized content and messaging to your guests. It is an impressive piece of visual technology that draws attention wherever it is placed. Today, video walls are no longer just a luxury. They are packaged in audio visual solutions where they can make a huge impact on your guests’ experience.

Before diving into the technology of video walls, here are some interesting statistics:

  • Harvard Business School study found that customers, who had an emotional connection with the restaurant, become 27% more loyal.
  • 60% of food service guests who had a positive and memorable experience said they’d dine at this restaurant more frequently, 39% said a good experience would encourage them to spend more, and 41% would recommend the restaurant to family and friends.

LED video walls are proven to enhance customer and employee engagement while also providing a central area for restaurants to display company-related messages and advertisements.

What is a video wall?

A video wall is a collection of screens that are combined/tiled together to create one large display. Typical display technologies used include LCD, direct LED tiles, rear-projection and laser displays. It’s like a big TV screen that uses special software to display customized text, pictures, videos and interactive content.

Because of their size and clarity, video walls have a WOW factor that makes them very effective for marketing messages and branding. It’s important to note that the content displayed is key in reaching messaging goals for the video wall. And in order to optimize the content displayed, content management software is needed.

LCD or LED wall?

For restaurants interested in jumping into the world of video walls or even upgrading their existing technology, the biggest question is whether LED or LCD is right for your video wall. The main difference between the two technologies is that for LCD displays, the lamps at the back of the screen are fluorescent, whereas LED displays use Light Emitting Diodes.

                       LCD Wall:

  • is a large surface for video or images built from many LCD screens. Technicians use special hardware and tools to stack the LCD screens on top of one another and calibrate the wall so that an image shows up across every screen.
  • the image suffers when it’s viewed from the side – they are best viewed straight on.
  • can be configured to be in many different sizes and shapes, both large and small but typically don’t go larger than five screens across and five screens high.
  • life span is 50,000+ hours
  • less expensive.

                        LED Wall:

  •  is made of many smaller LED panels. Each panel has hundreds of tiny light sources called “light emitting diodes”.
  •  has a much wider viewing angle – meaning the picture is still clear even if you aren't viewing the content straight on.
  • can appear grainer up close.
  • no seams on the wall.
  •  higher brightness.
  • flexibility in design e.g. curved screens.
  • unlimited size.
  • must be properly designed
  • life span is 100,000+ hours.
  • higher cost.

Video walls can do much more!

Some may think that a video wall would work only for a sports bar. Modern sports bars rely on the quality of their video entertainment in order to entice customers to their establishments for the big game or fight. But one of the benefits of adding a video wall to your bar or restaurant is that you can customize it for entertainment beyond just watching sports. You can program your video walls to show music videos, Digital Art, and much more.

Through the video wall, each space can be transformed into a unique place so that guest obtains an unbeatable experience at the moment of entering the place. As an example, many restaurants use video walls to create the impression of being somewhere else, like being amidst nature, or underwater, surrounded by aquatic animals.

     Digital Art

Another opportunity that the video wall gives your restaurant is to exhibit your favorite piece of art! Let your customers enjoy the most famous masterpieces of all time, from Michelangelo to Warhol.

Art collecting has long been a passion for those who wish to own and display a piece of work to which they feel an emotional connection. Digital art will help your restaurant to create a unique atmosphere and emotional connection exactly with your place.

The fact that a digital canvas can be created to custom specifications means that it can be integrated seamlessly with the architecture and design of your restaurant. A custom-created interior design can make the digital canvas the centerpiece of your dining room, further elevating the experience.

    Worth the investment?

Are video walls worth the investment? Depending on your return on objective, we think so. When used, this technology can increase an organization’s brand identity and streamline visitor experience. A video wall system can foster good first impressions, support self-service, and free up employees. When video display signage is designed professionally, they tend to deliver the best benefits.  With the right audio visual partner, you can design a video wall solution that fits within your budget but also can meet your objectives. Plan for now but also plan for future as expectations of your guests will continue to evolve with the technology.
